Mama June Shannon is taking the time to share an emotional goodbye with her fans and followers. It has been a heartbreaking rollercoaster since her daughter, Anna Cardwell passed in December 2023. Now, it is time for her to move on but what does this goodbye mean? Keep reading for more details.
Mama June Shannon Shares Emotional Goodbye With Fans
When Mama June Shannon learned that her eldest daughter, Anna Cardwell had stage 4 adrenal carcinoma, she was willing to move mountains. The two were estranged for years and now it was June’s time to step up and be a mother. She relocated from Alabama to Georgia to help with whatever Anna needed and even watched her marry her longtime boyfriend, Eldridge Toney. As things progressed, June and her other daughter, Pumpkin Efird grew concerned. Anna had two daughters and, though Kylee would go to her father, it was unknown where Kaitlyn would go.
Kaitlyn’s father was never known whereas Anna had been married for a short while to Kylee’s father, Michael Cardwell. Anna stated she wanted Eldridge to raise Kaitlyn but June didn’t like that. She passed before anything could be filed. Michael did file for custody of Kaitlyn but June won and decided she could no longer live in the home where Anna died. She has been looking for a new place for several months, getting rid of all of their many items. Now, June has an update and admitted she never thought she would leave the home where Anna took her last breath.
In an Instagram video, Mama June shared the emotional ride she has been on. From losing Anna to the custody battle to now the search for a new home. They searched far and wide but finally, she and her husband, Justin Stroud have paid a year’s worth of rent for a five-bedroom home. June admitted she is very emotional right now saying goodbye to this house and all of the memories it holds, good and bad.
Taking Her Time
Mama June Shannon also noted that she has been taking her time with the final stages of leaving the home. However, she does not sleep when she is at this home as she feels Anna Cardwell and has so many reminders of her. There are times when she is waiting for Anna to call for her or for her machines to go off. Therefore, she needs to grieve properly and cannot do that there. June knows she needs to leave the home but still battles it every day. Fans and followers offered words of advice in the comment section about what she was going through:
- I lost my son and moved out the home we shared because being in that same environment was impossible..
