Mama June Shannon wants to keep her granddaughter, Kaitlyn, safe, but does that mean she is cutting out her husband, Justin Stroud? They have been married a little over three years, so why would she need to be done with Justin? Keep reading for further details.
Mama June Keeping Kaitlyn Safe, Cutting Justin Out?
When Anna Cardwell passed away in December 2023, she did not have a confirmed directive regarding custody. She left behind two daughters and knew her youngest, Kylee, would go to her ex-husband. Unfortunately, she never could pinpoint who her eldest daughter, Kaitlyn’s, father was. Therefore, unless Anna explicitly wrote that the girls had to stay together, they would be separated. She had wanted Kaitlyn to go to her longtime partner and husband, Eldridge Toney, but Mama June was not happy. Anna passed before any papers were signed, and June jumped in.
Anna’s ex-husband, Michael Cardwell, tried to get custody of Kaitlyn, but she remained with her grandma, June. They have since moved out of their old home where Anna passed, and have a fresh start. Yet, is June in mama bear mode with Kaitlyn? In a preview for the upcoming season of Family Crisis, she is torn. June is unsure if she should add her husband, Justin Stroud, to Kaitlyn’s custody paperwork or leave him off. She explains to him that she is the sole custodian, but that hurts him. He notes that they are married and wants her to see that they are in a union. More so, they will be taking care of Kaitlyn together.
However, Mama June is adamant that she has to keep Kaitlyn safe and ensure no one tries to take her away. This is hard for Justin because he does not like how she controls how involved he is with Kaitlyn, especially since they are doing all of this as a unit. She tries to dismiss what he is saying and his concerns, but that only heats Justin up more. This may not bode well for the couple in the long run.
Fans Want Justin Out
After seeing this preview, Mama June fans were on Justin Stroud’s side. They wanted him to leave June and find someone who would love and respect him. She noted how great he was when Anna Cardwell was sick, up until she passed. Moreover, Justin did everything for them that they asked, and now she is cutting him very deeply:
- I think Justin should leave June & find better for himself, that’s what I think,
- He’s more stable than she is. She failed her own kids miserably.
- It’s hard to believe any judge would give June custody of a tree branch, let alone a child! 🙄
- Justin deserves better and I hope they are making her pay Alana for the money she stole
Some fans felt that Justin should not need a piece of paper to be involved in Kaitlyn’s life. However, others believed that one of Anna’s sisters should be listed on the paperwork. That way, if everything fell apart or something happened, she would be with her family.
