There is an interesting question this week in Emmerdale, who really is Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah)?
There’s a giant question mark over the kid, having blown into the Dales like a whirlwind, stealing quad bikes from Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) and selling stuff that had fallen off the back of a lorry. So, we know he’s got a crooked background, but what exactly it is, we don’t know.
He’s also got a heart of gold, having been pretty understanding when Vinny (Bradley Johnson) came onto him while questioning his sexuality, then turned best friend and helped him navigate his newly discovered sexuality.
He supported him through breaking off his engagement and even took the fall when Vinny blamed him for beating him up to hide the fact he’d been beaten by a blackmailer.
Kammy’s also been popular with the ladies – he had a fling with Sarah (Katie Hill) but eventually backed off when Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) came back on the scene. Now he’s getting it on with Belle (Eden Taylor Draper).
He’s a cheeky glass-half-full kind of guy and match maker to his friends, but like a comedian battling depression, is happy-go-lucky Kammy hiding a darkness?
He’s a puzzle, and it’s finally the time someone asks the question – what do we really know about Kammy?
Aaron (Danny Miller) asks this question because to him, Kammy becomes a suspect. Kammy shows up to work late and messy, which irks Aaron no end.
And when Aaron finds himself battling a mystery arsonist, he starts to put two and two together, wondering if the man with the matches is Kammy.
Where did he come from? Where is his family? Where does he live?
Nobody knows.
But as they say, you never know what someone else is going through. And we’ve got some clues coming that Kammy is going through a lot.
Aaron starts to convince himself that he’s found his man. As Robert and Aaron vow to each other to find the fire starter, Kammy is seen listening in, looking terrified. Is he the one holding the match?
Or is there something far more unsettling going on?
